Breast Implants Q&A

Q: Is silicon dangerous if it stays inside the body?

A: Silicon is immunologically ‘inert’ in most patients. So it’s considered safe.

Q: What are the types of the implants?

A: Implants are classified according to many things, for example, the material the implant is made of, the projection, and if it’s expandable or not.

Q: Which type fits my body?

A: It depends on your taste; some prefer big projection and a “natural” look. Other factors are shoulder width and how thin the breast skin is.

Q: Can my implants explode during the flights due to turbulences or air pressure differences?

A: It’s a MYTH. Implants don’t explode.

Q: When should I replace my implants? Is there a specific life span?

A: You don’t replace them unless you have to. Routine replacement after 10 years if no complications are doable. Others prefer to stay with them with no replacement!

Q: Bra, Yes or no?

A: Bra is always a good idea to have them on if you have implants. Why? Because they counter the gravity effect. The breast skin sags slower over the years if less weight is applied. In other words, implants are way lighter when the bra is on.
